Would you kill thousands of innocent people to make drugs that could save others? No, you wouldn’t. So why do it to millions of innocent animals that have no choice? Animal experimentation tests drugs and runs experiments on animals that torture them, sickens them, and eventually kills them. Animal experimentation should not be allowed to continue because of the millions of innocent lives that are sacrificed each year, the animals go through painful tests with no painkillers, and the tests are essentially useless since animals and people don’t have the same genetic code. Millions of animal lives should not be collateral damage for making a drug that won't even work during trials. It's time that animal experimentation comes to an end and we save the thing that make this world unique from the rest: animal life. Each year millions of animals are killed and replaced with more animals. Labs run many tests that don’t even care if animal lives are going to be sacrificed in the process. Schools used animals to teach surgery and practice student’s surgical skills. The animal eventually gets tossed in the trash and never thought of again (Fears). The only thing is, we already do tests on people. No matter how many tests they use on animals, there will always be that first person to take the drug. The people who sign up to take the drug in clinical trials are testing for side effects in humans. The side effects can be just as dangerous as making a drug and not testing it first before giving it to someone. Scientists even argue that even if they quit testing on animals they would still have to use a living organism to test the side effects. However, no organism is the same to where we can predict all the side effects. The only way is if we test people. Only our own species can tell us what we can or cannot withstand
