Using animals in research to test the safety of products has been a controversial topic for decades. Animal lovers focus on this topic because they can find companies who use animal testing for development everywhere. Nowadays, many products are being tested on animals. According to Croswell (2013) “Did you know that even items like contact lenses, pet food, diapers, Splenda, and some “green” cleaning products are tested on animals?”. Defenseless animals are being used for different types of experiments all around the world every day. So, animals should be treated with the same way humans treat other humans. But, what people need to understand is that the human body function in a very different way than the animal body. According to Croswell (2013) “We have cured over 200 diseases in rats and mice that hasn’t translated to humans because our physiology is different”. The use of animals for humans can give misleading results because of the differences between humans and animals. Greek (n.d.) stated that “Animals metabolize drugs differently from humans: thus substances which are safe for dogs and rats may not be safe for people”. Moreover, experiments on animals cannot fully predict the human response to some kind of drugs or products.

Animal experiments are cruel to animals no matter how they are done. Their rights are violated when they are used in a research because they are not given a choice. Animal testing can be painful and it can cause permanent damage or death. A big number of animals die in lethal doses tests every year in the united states. There are a multitude laws in the U.S to ensure that the animal used in research are treated humanely, but what if the experiment goes wrong and the animal die? Animals lives are valuable
