Arguments Against IVF

Against: The religion belief of some people make their point of view strongly against IVF. Pope Benedict XVI of Catholicism said: “Less visible, but not for that reason less disturbing, are the possibilities of self-manipulation that man has acquired.... In this way, the splendor of the fact that he is the image of God… no longer shines upon this man; his only splendor is the power of human capabilities” as he believe the IVF is against the lord as people are creating people instead of god, and that is against the Catholic belief. The Catholic believe do not suggest “unnaturally bred” human, and the IVF created the babies that are not “naturally breed”. Many New Zealanders who are Christianity believer could reject IVF because they believe this is the behaviour of “plays with God”. However, although embryo represents the first place of a baby born, I think people should not limit themselves by their beliefs. Yes we must respect lives and human rights, and follow their religious rules. But in first few days, embryo is just formed and it not yet have the brain or the body issue. And once it is mature enough and has the structure of development, we will inject it in the mother’s womb and it grows in the mother’s body. So I think either the pope or bishop should have the responsibility, or get encouraged to spread the understanding and opinion that Christian hold about we are the “image of God” is not accurate, God will still take care of his gifts when they are in the mother’s womb.
