Restricting the child's freedom can also keep unwanted people from being on campus. Charles West of the Journal of Family & Consumer Sciences said that school uniforms are good to keep people that do not belong off of school campuses. This is also a good idea because, at my school, I had a classmate who brought her boyfriend on campus and hid him in the women's bathroom all day. He occasionally came out and visited with her but for the most part, he stayed in the bathroom. (This was after my school had gotten rid of school uniforms.) My principal had caught the boy in the bathroom. However, if an intruder watches the school for a while and observes how things go, they can easily try to fit in. Especially if they know someone that goes to that school. Intruders will do whatever it takes to get into wherever they please. That might mean that they go and buy uniform clothes, but they will do what it takes if they really want to get onto that campus (West).
Another thing that comes with not being able to decide clothing is that children do not have the opportunity to dress inappropriately. The Lufkin News got a quote from Shane SueAnn Squyres that said that she liked the school uniforms because they could easily keep inappropriate clothing from being on the school ground. She believed that students needed to learn and not be focused on fashion. She said that in her past as an educator, she saw children wearing things that they should not be wearing to school like pajamas, alcohol sponsoring clothing, and slippers. School uniforms can prevent all of these things. Because the children are restricted to wearing dress pants and single colored polo shirts, they do not have the room to be showing too much skin or wearing pajamas or even clothing with alcoholic
