To begin with, students shouldn’t wear uniforms because it violates a student’s right for freedom. For example, quoting, “https://www.greatschools.org/gk/articles/school-uniforms/” by Marian Wilde, “School uniforms violate a student’s right to freedom of expression...makes a target for bullies from other schools, are difficult to enforce in public schools, and are a financial burden for poor families.” This means that some families aren’t able to afford the school uniforms. Which, leads to many students getting bullied for not having uniforms like their
Some parents and people think when we give them uniforms it takes away their freedom of expression and restricts them from showing who they are. This is wrong. They can still express themselves in many ways, such as: wearing unique tennis shoes, styling their hair however they want, mix and matching the uniform pieces, wearing fun jewellery, etc. They can also wear the fun clothing outside of school, whenever they want. Uniforms make it so everyone looks together and one, so no one gets better or worse treatment for what they wear.
Would ever consider wearing uniforms to school? School uniforms are something that many students dread having to wear. Wearing uniforms take away from a student individuality. They don't allow students to express themselves through their personal style. Lastly the price of school uniforms is very expensive for many families.
Putting a dress code into effect would limit students freedom of expression. Many students inalienable rights get taken away with this rule, “In the 1970 case Richards v. Thurston (3-0), which revolved around a boy refusing to have his hair cut shorter, the US First Circuit Court of Appeals ruled that "compelled conformity to conventional standards of appearance" does not "seem a justifiable part of the educational process." Another example of students getting their freedom taken away was at Friendly High School in Maryland where they were not allowed to wear pink shirts to wear pink shirts in order to support breast cancer month. Knowing this they wore the shirts anyway and approximately 75 students got in-school-suspension. Schools with dress codes like those take away freedoms that students will have in the real world.
There are many people who believe school uniforms are a bad idea. The reasonings to support why school uniforms are a bad idea are: school uniforms in public schools undermine free education, it’s an extra expense for families, school uniforms restricts student’s freedom of expression, and lastly uniforms may have a detrimental effect on self image. First of all, school uniforms in public schools undermine free education and are an extra expense for families. Evidence to support this is parents already have so many bills and taxes to pay. Families already have to buy out of school clothes and with uniforms it would add to expenses.
Rosalani Faitala Fingarson Period 2 15 March 2017 Junior Research Paper: School Uniforms Should Not be Required in Schools There was nothing more exasperating and distressing than losing the freedom to express one’s self. Today, about 23% of private and public schools have a uniform policy in America (StatisticBrain). Most people especially teachers are for uniforms however uniforms have their disadvantages. School Uniforms should not be required in any school because it’s driven by commercial interests, a financial pain for families, does not improve academics, and promotes conformity over individuality.
They know that every student might not love them, but the benefits are too great to pass up. Schools should use uniforms because they help deteriorate crime, increase focus among students, and prevent bullying. First, having school uniforms can deteriorate crime in an area. Some communities are very unsafe and schools

Kids shouldn’t wear school uniforms because wearing a school uniform can cause uncomfortableness.
The reason think that we shouldn't wear uniforms is because KIDS DO NOT LIKE UNIFORMS. In this paragraph you will see why I think that schools should not have uniforms. And the reasons we shouldn't have them. Uniforms are distractive in many ways such as , uncomfortability and annoyance. The biggest argument that is for cons would be that school uniforms restrict a student's ability to express themselves through means of clothing and even piercing. Self-expression is critical for people, especially for those in their youth because if they are restricted to self-expression, it could damage one's creativity and even their own identity. This is why self-expression is very critical to our youth because of how it could affect our future generation. Backtracking to cons , another important con for school uniforms would be the overall price of the uniforms themselves, many parents are concerned with the overall pricing of the uniforms and families who are going through some rough patches may not be able to afford it at the time, which is a big problem for students trying to go to school
This can lessen the bullying over who has the best styled clothing, or whose clothes is worth more. This can lead to students making bad decisions to get the clothes they wanted because what they had was not good enough. Without implementing school uniforms, someone who is being bullied and judged by their, and is lost and do not know where to turn to, might end up ending his life or someone else 's. This is not acceptable. This is not how the leaders of tomorrow should be raised and taught. Action can be either provoked now, or after names are carved into concretes and memorials have been taken placed.
The Lufkin News got a quote from Shane SueAnn Squyres that said that she liked the school uniforms because they could easily keep inappropriate clothing from being on the school ground. She believed that students needed to learn and not be focused on fashion. She said that in her past as an educator, she saw children wearing things that they should not be wearing to school like pajamas, alcohol sponsoring clothing, and slippers. School uniforms can prevent all of these things. Because the children are restricted to wearing dress pants and single colored polo shirts, they do not have the room to be showing too much skin or wearing pajamas or even clothing with alcoholic
It actually has a lot of benefits like reducing distractions, reducing peer pressure or bullying, saving money, and enhancing school pride. At first glance, fashion might seem to have very little to do with learning, but as the saying goes, the clothes makes the student. Mandatory uniform policy has made a distinct difference in many schools. School uniforms will keep students focused on their education, not their clothes. According to A bulletin published by the National Association of Secondary School Principals stated that "When all students are wearing the same outfit, they are less concerned about how they look and how they fit in with their peers; thus, they can concentrate on their schoolwork".
In the article of Dr. Alan Hilfer from 2009, “Disadvantages of a School Uniform Policy” stated that “We need free thinking children of to become thinkers of tomorrow, not droned who will continue making the mistakes of previous generations”(Hilfer, 2009). Feelings on school uniforms seem to differ as much as the reasons for having them, hate it, or love it. Recent studies done in the University of Alabama states that: “Student Uniform use was not significantly correlated with any of the school commitment variables. In addition, students wearing uniforms did not appear to have any significantly different academic performance” (Brunsma & Rockquemore, 1998). The problem whether schools should still be continuously implemented is a highly debatable topic.
Many students who wear uniforms feel more proud of their school when other people recognize them. Wearing school uniforms can also help them gain more self-confidence because they feel that they are a part of something bigger. In conclusion, school uniforms have many advantages and seem to be more positive than negative for students. It help get rid of bullying acts in schools based on what the students are wearing.
