Asperger’s syndrome/disorder is a high functioning autism. Even though it is considered to be high functioning, all sorts of problems and disabilities come along that you have to adjust and adapt to. There are many pros to have Aspergers, even if it may not seem like it. Even though there is a plus side to have this type of autism, the pros do not outweigh the cons in having it. For anybody, hearing you or some kind of family member has autism, can be terrifying, but having Aspergers is not such a bad thing. Autistic people in general suffer from multiple problems. Not long ago, autism was considered to be rare, “One in 10,000 people affected”, but now, some of the latest studies show that one in 150 kids, 10 and under, are affected by some sort of autism. 300,000 children in the U.S. alone, and if adults are included into this from the United States, more than one million people suffer from some type of autism. There are many types out there, and many people are suffering. (J. Madeline) Aspergers is one of the several subtypes of autism. Although Aspergers is considered to be a type of autism that is considered to be “high functioning”. Compared to other forms of autism, Asperger’s syndrome does not have big or significant delays or as many difficulties in language of their development. Even people with Aspergers have amazing vocabulary, mostly in a particular interest they have. A possible cause of AD could be brain abnormalities. People believe in this because structural and functional differences have been seen through test such as advanced brain imaging. Genetics can play a role in this as well. Children with autistic parents or other family members down the line have a higher chance of having autism appear. Aspergers could be associated with other mental problems such as bipolar disorder and depression. All sorts of people think Aspergers is due to the parenting the person had received. This disorder has nothing to do with parenting, more so a neurobiological disorder that has not been completely understood yet.
