In the article "Some Lessons from the Assembly Line", Andrew Braaksma is talking about how important your education is, and how he had wished he would have went to college much sooner than he did. Also, he wouldn 't be getting underpaid at work as hard as he does. I believe, he is wanting a better future for the kids that 's soon to be in college, and he is wanting them to see how hard it is a struggle of being underpaid. He is wishing he would have went to college much sooner than he did, and he would have a good paying job because, he could have already had his degree, and he wouldn 't be getting under paid. His goal is him telling students how important their education is.

Braaksma is trying to reach the audience of college students and blue-collar workers. With his personal experience he shows how his friends who attend college and haven 't worked long hours don 't understand why he is happy to be back at school, they don 't understand what it is like to work long hard hours all day long and not be paid accordingly. "There are few things as cocksure as a college student who has never been out in the real world, and people my age always seem to overestimate the value of their time and knowledge. After a particularly exhausting string of 12-hour days at a plastics factory, I remember being shocked at how small my check seemed" Braaksma (2005).
The author sets up a picture of himself as a student and a factory worker. The story shows us about what happens when a student decides to take a part-time job in the summer while continuing his education. Andrew Braaksma makes some great points in his article. The three main points in the article are to express the importance of education. We need to appreciate the value of being employed.

A standardized test is a test that is given in a consistent or “standard” manner. Standardized tests are designed to have consistent questions, administration procedures, and scoring procedures. When a standardized test is administered, it is done so according to certain rules and specifications so that testing conditions are the same for all test takers. They often provide some type of “standard score” which can help interpret how far a child score ranges from the average student (Johnson).

Standardized testing assumes that all students throughout the world are the same. Since we are not robots stamped out at a factory, we are all different from one another. Two people that live in the same house have different strengths and different weaknesses.
The example shows that were not all the same and shouldn’t feel like we are all the same and have to take this test, us humans have many differences between us all. Standardized Testing Are you tired of the way we do testing? Well, I am. Some people think that we should keep the way we do testing. While everybody else thinks that we should change the way we test. I think we should change the way of testing because it causes stress to lots people.
Standardize test are used to measure academic success in the classroom. They have been used historically to measure and compare performance of individual students. There is a constant push for students to excel and improve on standardize exams which leads to unrealistic goals set by administrations. Standardized test are being used to make a considerable amount of decisions about students for example, grade promotion, and high school graduation. Teachers are being forced to teach testing methods and focus on having their students pass the standardized exams which ultimately, takes away from students learning process.
Standardize Test also benefit the economy since they’re very cheap. In the midst of the financial crisis in America, the only way to maintain the top notch quality of American education is to increase the amount of standardize test used since they are cheaper and more effective, requiring very little effort to grade. We must save money by substituting costly, human-graded test with low cost, idea-limiting scantron tests. Investing in a machine is so much cheaper. It’s more cost effective than hiring a human with opinions that could allow for human biases to skew the grades.
It does not show creativity or how well a person is organized. Testing does not prove how trust worthy or creative the student could be for a job opportunity. Standardize tests treats every student as if they came from the same background with the same education and thinking styles. It treats us as if we are identical. One student can be awful at reading comprehension which could cause them to have low test grades.
The required use of standardized testing can be controversial for many reasons. The amount of time spent preparing, the stress involved, and the limited lifelong benefits from standardized testing all contribute to why
The standardized test can also help you get a job in the future. It always looks good on paper when it shows that you are able to learn and are good at learning. If a student or person is very successful on a standardized test they are also granted more choices for a job in the future. So it will always be a good idea to take a standardized test
