Arguments Against Standardized Testing

Hi, I am a 7th grader at Warren Junior High and I want to make a change in having to take standardized testing. Do students and teachers like or approve of these tests? In my opinion, they have no use. These tests create stress and aren’t entertaining for kids at all. Another reason is that these tests don’t value diversity. Standardized testing should not be taken seriously because it can later affect how a student gives all their effort in school work. Standardized tests cause students to really stress during the test. An example from, “ Why Standardized Testing Doesn’t Measure Quality” is “Brain research suggests that too much stress psychologically and physically harmful.” Standardized tests are not useful to the kids with anxiety in which they start choosing faster and wrong. One example from the text, “ Why Standardized Testing Doesn’t Measure Quality” is “Standardized tests treat the as if they were all identical; identical to the group that took the test several years ago.” In detail, it shows that everyone takes the test every year it’s always the same never changes so that causes kids and teachers to think were all the same. This evidence supports my thesis because without these tests we would feel different than others. A very important example I found on “Why Standardized Testing Doesn’t Measure Quality”... “There is a wide variety of differences in the people who take standardized tests: different learning and thinking styles, different family backgrounds,different past experiences.” The example shows that were not all the same and shouldn’t feel like we are all the same and have to take this test, us humans have many differences between us all. Evidence that I chose can support my thesis because it shows because of this reason it shouldn’t be taken seriously.
