Then, the people who are getting this kind of money know how to handle it. They don’t go bankrupt after 2-3 years of retirement like athletes. Anyways, there are people who make more money than pro athletes but, those people deserve the money they
Athletes should get paid the way they are getting paid right now. When people hear about how much pro athletes really make they
Why are people so worried about how much money a professional athlete makes? So many people are worried about how much money a professional athlete make, they say why doesn’t it go two someone in need or why don’t teachers make more money, they are teaching our future generation. Yes teachers may be teaching owner future, and yes there are servicemen putting their lives on the line, but these athletes aren’t regular athletes. Professional athletes have trained and sacrificed ever since they were little kids play youth sports to become who they are today.
College athletes can make profit off of their names, the program and all of the money they make and the athletes education this is why college athletes should be paid. College athletes should be able to make a profit off of their image and names and likeness because they don’t know what their future holds for them and honestly they could not have a future after college so the programs should pay them just so they don’t have to worry about everything. Another reason why college athletes shouldbe paid is because the programs they go to get alot of money after each game and each year, the athletic department of the NCAA made around 18.9 billions dollars and none of that goes to any of the players all of that goes to the coaching staff and the universites itself. Last reason why college athletes should be paid is because if they don’t get paid money they should at least get paid with a very high education from there universites and should graduate with something they can be grateful and happy about. Now go and tell people that college athletes should be paid for the sport
Professional athletes are overpaid. Athletes are to financial irresponsible to get paid that much money. One example is 78% NFL players go bankrupt after only two years of retirement. Also they have no financial experience because they are in their early 20’s and this is their first real job besides maybe stocking shelves at a grocery at store. Besides 60% NBA players go bankrupt too.
For example, Aaron Rodgers is the highest ranked quarterback in the NFL, Cody Kessler is the highest ranked quarterback in college football, both do the same amount of work in practice and in games, only Rodgers gets paid. Unless professionals start playing for free, which won’t happen, then college athletes should start getting some respect and money. Likewise an article written on why college athletes should be compensated for their efforts gave examples of professional players compared to college players, “Kobe Bryant, Chris Paul, Clayton Kershaw and Cody Kessler are major stars in the Los Angeles sports market; however, while Bryant, Paul and Kershaw are compensated handsomely for leading their
In the United States, the large sum of money paid to many professional athletes is controversial. In the United States, professional athletes for 4 major sports get payed an unbelievable amount of money. Major league baseball is the biggest money maker out of the 4 big ones. All of theses athletes work extremely hard for there money they are the best of the best for what they do, and work very hard at it. They make a lot of money for their teams their organizations, and their families.
“Cristiano Ronaldo makes $56 million a year, Kobe Bryant made $250 million a year and Barack Obama made $400,000 a year during his presidency...” (O'Connor ). Professional athletes are paid millions of dollars to play a game while police officers, firefighters, army soldiers, and even the president are paid significantly less. “It’s not shocking that public servants like teachers and police officers make less than professional athletes”(Figueroa). Compensation shouldn't be about entertainment, it should be about job importance because people are trying to make the world a better and safer place not a more entertaining place.
For instance, Shaq is in the new icy hot back pain reliever. Pro athletes also get big businesses to sponsor and commercialize their products. Critics argue that in today's society one should be paid according to the job’s economic importance and their value to society. However many government jobs don't make as much as they deserve. Furthermore critics argue that athletes should not be making more that the President of the United States - the one who leads the free world!
But do these athletes really deserve all that money? In my mind, I think absolutely not. Professional athletes are making too much money in a society where salaries and wages are usually based on the value of one’s work. In today’s society, one should be paid according to the job’s economic position and their value to society. Teaching is one of the most economically important jobs because our future economy relies on the education of its youth, but teachers are paid extremely less than the average professional athlete is.
In fact, “Athletes were not always paid more than CEOs. In the early stages of the American Football system, most players had to have a normal day job on top of playing, because there was no money to be made in pro football.” (Two Sides To Every Coin, are Professional Athletes Paid Too Much? BleacherReport.com) Do you know those animal commercials that shows all those pets stranded, hurt, hungry, thirsty that need a home?
You turn on the TV and flip to the sports channel. There are tons of superstar athletes scoring 106 yard touchdowns, beating the buzzers, and running and swimming at superhuman speeds. Yes, they are very talented and cool looking. But when you see their salaries, you want to wreck your TV with a sledge hammer. Pro athletes receive millions of dollars in a year compared to fifty years for the average American, and just for being really good at sports.
While the athletes just show entertainment to fans. Don 't get me wrong, but paying an athlete $13.5 million for a single year is just really doing the most. There are doctors who are probably saving lives right now that will probably never make that much. Some might say that these pro athletes have spent most of their childhood playing sports, but hasn’t everyone played like one type of game or sport once in their life? I’m not trying to say that I don’t think that they should not get paid at all, but they shouldn’t be getting paid that much.
Athletes are paid more than very important jobs such as surgeons, teachers, and even the president! Athletes don’t even do very important things, they merely entertain fans in an arena. Do they save lives, educate our future, or run our country? No, they don’t. Finally, an athlete's salary is more than an average American household makes in a whole decade.
People know that doctors and firefighters save lives, while athletes play a game to make money. Even teachers don’t get paid as much; they educate the generation’s youth so they can make a difference in the future. So many jobs that are very important don’t get paid as much and that money can go towards better causes. But these are only some of the reasons that pro athletes get paid too much.
