The problem that I have seen in many cases, is the fact that many mission statements were so complex in nature, that no one could really truly grasp the true meaning of the mission statement. Mission statements are made upon the values of an organization, yet many mission statements failed to convey the how to achieve the core values. Athletic Canada is a Canadian amateur athletic association that open for all people in different sizes, shapes, ages, abilities, and skills. According to its strategic plan published on its website, the vision 2020 is “to provide world-leading programs and service in Athletics and to be recognized domestically and internationally” (Athletic Canada website, year). The mission, core values and critical success factor indicated in the report is the crucial key to success because of the SMART objective characteristic. AC can also be considered as the individual development beyond sport that attracts more potential customers. Also, AC set different events, so anybody can participate according to their interests and physical abilities.
Our district is very focused on increasing our technology. Our district’s mission statement says: “The vision of the Warrior Run School District is to create an environment where students are able to recognize their highest potential. Agency Mission Pupil Services is an agency within Los Angeles Unified School District under the Student Health and Human Service Division and their mission statement is the following: “To ensure that all LAUSD students are enrolled, attending, engaged, and on-track to graduate.” The agency firmly believes that within every student is a highly capable and motivated high school graduate. Agency Structure Pupil services partner with a variety of district and non-district agencies such as the City of Los Angeles. The City of Los Angeles pays for 16 PSA counselors, 1 lead counselor, and 1 coordinator position to be co-located at FamilySource Centers which are non-LAUSD agencies.

Envision a Mission for an Athletic Department At its core any program, including an athletic department, must have a set of core values and a mission statement, for which they can fall back on and follow. In addition to this mission, the department needs employees with a proper skill set and attitude to help move the company in the right direction, in accordance with the departments vision. A mission statement sets the tone and direction for a company, program or department. In addition, an institution is only as strong as their employees working towards that vision.

Coaches have many responsibilities on and off the field, however could you imagine what it would be like to be responsible for nine separate sport teams in addition to managing a budget and all the while preparing for and teaching classes? This is a typical daily duty of an athletic director. High School athletic directors are generally still classroom teachers who are responsible for monitoring the academic and graduation rates of student athletes, parents, and faculty to resolve problems . Athletic directors must be highly skilled at public relations.

To a few organizations, this step would include revisiting and occasionally reworking the mission and values if necessary. To some organizations, it would be the first time they are sitting their mission and values. “Mission statements define the nature, purpose, and role of organizations; focus resources; and guide planning” (Keeling 213).
