“A winner is a dreamer who never gives up”- Nelson Mandela When I dream about who and where I want to be in the future, I know I don't have any plans on giving up on my goals. It is an honor to be nominated for the National Junior Honor Society. I believe that being in NJHS will help me continue to work toward and achieve my goals of developing my social, and leadership skills as well as community involvement, all of which will be beneficial in the future. One reason I feel that I am a great candidate is that I have an eagerness to learn. Over the years, I've always tried my best to do more than what is expected of me, whether it was in school or an out-of-school activity. No matter what I do, I know there is always room for improvement. Another reason I feel I'm a great candidate is that I take challenges head-on. While being in the dual language program is challenging, I know that going through this challenge is helping to shape my future and develop new abilities such as problem-solving skills, communication skills, and a better understanding of cultural differences. These are all notable traits that can apply to being in NJHS. Aside from overcoming challenges, I am self-motivated and enjoy being involved in co-curricular activities such as Honor Band and Jazz Band. I believe that being in the band has increased my eagerness to learn outside of my academics. In band, we are consistently pushed to do better than we did yesterday, and I owe a big thanks to both band directors for pushing me to be the best that I can be and teaching me that you do not have to be perfect, trying your best is what matters.
