Attending College Goals

My purpose of attending college is because I want to make a change in my family. When all your life you’ve seen what your parents have sacrificed for you, all you want to do is make them proud and potentially give them more than they gave you. Although all parents sacrifice things for their kids every story has its different ups and downs. My parents taught me that hard work and dedication is where you’ll go far. They always believed in me and always told me to reach for the stars. Not only am I attending college for that reason but also for myself as well I want to become a child clinical psychologist to make a change in a kids life and help kids because they are our future. My motivation for my journey to achieve my goal varies although I know for a fact what I want and I am dedicated to get there and do whatever it takes sometimes is hard and I have to remind myself why I'm here in the first place. I am the first one in both my families to attend college which is a big role that also motivates me not to give up. One of my concern while attending college is not being able to pay for the education and also failing classes its hard sometimes and I can risk losing financial aid. My current hope and specific goal for this semester are I want to improve my time management skills to increase my grades so I can get a better GPA. Which basically sums up my goal in a specific and clear term. Also, my specific behavioral goal would be the following. To study, or do homework for three hours Monday-Friday, and on Sunday write down three new specific goals I need to reach for the following week. I know that this goal is attainable and relevant to me because the value of the goal is important to me because it's basically the stepping stones to biggest goals I have in life. My only limitation would possibly be my health. But besides my limitation, my learning style is multimodal. Which helps me mold into new ways possible in helping me achieve a new way to strongly excel in certain subjects, but my highest one would be kinesthetic. A very hands-on learner. I have to actually draw out tables or do some type of movement to better understand certain concepts. One of my useful methods is using flash cards and lots of color on them to be able to identify the differences. Also, I have created a game with the flashcards to help enhance my kinesthetic skills. The game is like the memory game I try to match definitions or main points to the actual right answer as fast as I can. Definitely making new study practices have helped me enhance my study skills such as improving my note taking skills, by highlighting, and annotating verbal cues in class, also using Quizlet to create my own test, and being able to go over important key
