In 1774, Captain Juan Bautista de Anza named that sycamore tree-lined creek "Arroyo de los Alisos," the Stream of the Sycamores, later renamed San Antonio Creek. Up until the 1890s, Montclair was little more than grazing land and a watering hole.
In 1675, Isaac Newton stated "if I have seen further, it is by standing on the shoulders of giants. " This sentiment is not solely confined to scientific disciplines, but extends throughout nearly every aspect of life. Progress cannot be obtained without innovation, and musical theater is no exception. Lin-Manuel Miranda’s work, especially that of Hamilton, would be nowhere as successful as it is without the influence of artists before him. It is apparent the work of Claude-Michel Schönberg, most notably Les Miserables, did much to shape Hamilton into the hit musical it is today.

A crime case found most complex and controversial, being spread across every news station in the city as well as being published in the New York Times, occurred in a high school in Bronx, NY. A week into his senior year of high school, 18-year-old student Abel Cedeno went online to Amazon.com and bought a knife, easily hidden and began taking it to school with him. He was a student who felt trapped, continuously being mocked with racist and homophobic slurs. During a history class one day, two classmates began throwing pencil bits and balled-up pieces of paper at Mr. Cedeno making it a seemingly repetitive offense against him. Mr. Cedeno did at that moment get up and had gone to the bathroom but when he returned, the tormenting continued.
While Altoona, PA has been working hard over the last couple of years to fix many community issues there is still one that the city has not solved. This has been a problem that has been ongoing since before I was born 15 years ago. The problem is that Altoona does not have enough sidewalks and crosswalks for the many people who walk places every day. I believe that people should have a safe place to walk in all cities, and should not have to worry about there not being adequate walking tracks or crosswalks in areas of heavier traffic. People have been saying for years that Altoona needs more sidewalks and crosswalks.
