After conducting thorough research, I choose to apply to the BHS/Flex program with the goal of attaining the educational foundation that is necessary for me to further my career in the behavioral healthcare field. Through my life journey, I’ve been acknowledge on many occasions for my humanitarian efforts. My desire to find a solution for the needs of others in my community or the venerable individuals who have undoubtedly become a statistic in the system, has inspired me to collaborate diverse methods of assisting them in their development; whether through education or rehabilitation. In my efforts to make even the smallest impact on my community, I have coordinated several events including Back to School drives, home cooked meals for the homeless and clothing drives catering to young women and children. In my current role as a supervisor advocating for adults with developmental disabilities and challenging behaviors, my daily goals include instilling life skills, and educational training with the purpose of developing these individuals to become independent. With this responsibility, my position demands high levels of communication skills as it involves working with clinicians, administrators and medical professionals. In addition, this requires superior attention to detail, time management and critical thinking skills to adequately assist each individual in their progression.
