As a member of the Jackson community and school district for the entirety of my life, I have been fortunate to have had many opportunities to better myself, the people around me, and my community. These privileges have ranged from community service, to being a part of Jackson’s sports programs, to Girl Scouts. In many instances, I have had the honor to lead others in projects and activities, holding myself and others to the highest standard. From these enlightening experiences, I have learned much about myself and how to maintain order and productivity among a group of people. I am certain that my leadership involvement in the past, as well as my leadership in the future will stimulate positive changes in my community.

It is so rewarding to know that I am doing my part to impact the lives of those around me. An additional benefit of leading others is that I have had the ability to assist others in identifying and developing their skills and interests. Through my Silver Award project, for example, I was able to guide younger children to partake in a healthy lifestyle. My team and I helped kids explore activities that they found enjoyable, and encouraged them to make healthy decisions.
