Recommended: Observation of infants

Other behaviors observed (one paragraph): As stated above, Christopher was such a sweet and relaxed baby, as for 95% of the time he would just lay there in either his caregiver arms, or my arms. The only time he seemed to start to become a little uncomfortable was when I tried to feed him. Please keep in mind that I myself am not regularly around babies, so I was very uncomfortable to be around the child, and was not confident in feeding him, I was so afraid that I was going to hurt him or something. I was pleased to see that though he was exposed to drugs, he was not lying there like a vegetable, but rather he was responding, and displaying normal reflexes for the most part. Denise did state that some of the sensory items (smell and sight)

For the color of the babies room I’d go with one soild color all around the room. I would do light colors such as a light purple, light blue, light gray, or a tan color. I wouldn’t have any bright colors because babys need to be able to sleep at any time of day and bright colors would be a distraction. I would have also have minimal bright colors in the room only because when the child is sleeping in the crib I don’t want them to be destracted while trying to sleep. The patient had no significant medical history, with the exception of 2 spontaneous abortions. Her pregnancy was uneventful, and she was 39 weeks’ gestation at the time of her induction. The teacher I will be observing over the next period of time is Laura Sturgulewski. She has worked at KinderCare for 8 years, mostly in the 2 year-old room until fall of 2013, when she took the lead teaching position of the Preschool classroom. Her classroom mainly has 3 year-olds, but on occasion has a mix of 4 year-olds and transitioning 2 year-olds. The number of students in her class depends on the day, because they are a child care center some students have a part time schedule, unlike an elementary school where children attend every day.
