The person and company I interviewed for this assignment was Christian Alvarez a Relationship Manager, for Bank of America in Los Angeles, California. I got this reference from my brother who knew him in college. Bank of America is a financial service corporation and bank. They are one of the largest banks in the United States for revenue and they have over 4,000 branches throughout the United States. Although some Bank of America locations are small, the branch in Los Angeles California is a huge one and has a lot more employees than your average Bank of America. The interviews vary depending on what role one is applying for. Normally there are around three rounds for interviews, a phone call, the situational test, and the interview with different members of higher position. For example when Mr. Alvarez applied for the job he got interviewed by three people: the associate, the supervisor, and the recruiter. This shows that Bank of America really wants to have the best candidates to offer a job. After the interview they deliberate and see if the applicant possessed the qualities that are needed to work there. In order to avoid a type of discrimination Bank of America does not interview in a non- direct form rather they prefer to do a situational interview. A situational Interview is more effective way to see how well employees are qualified for the job. This makes the hiring process more efficient because those conducting the interview can truly see whether employees are telling the truth in their resumes or if they can bring something new to the team. One of the other main ways Bank of America recruits before the interview is by looking at the resumes. The resumes are an important factor because Bank of America has a team that looks over applicants who meet the basic requirements and send them through because that’s all they ask for and respond in a quicker manner to those who did not qualify. The resume is an important factor when recruiting since it allows for companies to get what they quicker and find even better applicants with more experience. This is an advantage since they get a pool of the best applicants rather than going and interviewing everyone who
