UNC Charlotte’s career center is huge and is overwhelming for students. Students, especially freshmen, do not do well in stressful and overwhelming situations like this one. I interviewed Ashely Oliphant, a current professor at Pfeiffer and an alumni of UNC Charlotte, about her opinion and experiences of the Career Center at UNC Charlotte. Oliphant stated, “The experience, though, was a bit overwhelming because the Center is so large. It took courage for me to walk into a Center with such busy activity and ask for help.” UNC Charlotte has to have the bigger Career Service Center because of how many students attending the University and also because the students there are not the only people that can access those services. You could walk around Pfeiffer’s campus and ask random students about their president and they would know her name and they could tell you about all the different interactions that they have actually had with her. But if you did the same thing at those larger Universities like UNC Greensboro, then there would most likely be little to none that could tell you any of that. The president at Pfeiffer makes its students feel as if we were a big huge family. This is one of the best things that I love about Pfeiffer. I love knowing everyone and everyone knowing me. I love the connection that everyone has with one another. These feelings are mutual with most all students. Do you know where it starts from? It starts from the top such as the President.
