I am a doctor in Biology and Mathematics and the teacher of IB Biology at Indooroopilly State High School. It is a true pleasure for me to write this reference for Beatriz Marijuan Rodriguez, who has been one of the two or three most outstanding students of the International Baccalaureate over the last two years. When Beatriz enrolled at the school, English was not her first language and we all witnessed an incredibly remarkable development, clearly evidencing her natural ability to learn quickly. She adjusted herself to the new educational system with no difficulties, starting soon to mentor other students, and her assessments have been used as models by other students and are to be published in the school science journal.
Beatriz has a superior analytical and reflective personality, a great intellectual curiosity and aptitude, and always provides insightful comments to our class discussions. She has a very strong self-motivation, and is a very stable student that can definitely perform under pressure and stress. In class projects, such as dissections, she is exceptionally professional, collaborative and enthusiastic. She has helped younger students in ‘buddy programs’, she volunteered to be a facilitator in the year 8 leadership camp and she was the leader of the chorus in the Student Theatre Company.
