Growing up as a twin, I always had that one person who I was always looking after. Growing up as a child I always knew I wanted to work with people. I always enjoyed looking after her, and making sure she was okay. The medical field was something that I have always been very intrigued by. As I got older, I got to experience not only looking after my sister but my gram too. I got to see first-hand what age can do to you. Weekly, I spent time with my gram who is eighty-eight years old. It is amazing to see how when one is old how they can regress to child-like ways. To me I find this very interesting, and is something I want to be a part of. Becoming an occupational therapist will allow me to work with people of all ages from toddlers to elders to help them get better. What more can I ask for? …show more content…

I have also spent some time in nursing homes both in the States and while studying abroad in Costa Rica. Becoming an occupational therapist would allow me to work with people who are not able to do certain things anymore such as feeding themselves or even tying their shoes. Some of these people in nursing home have nobody, it is important for them to still know that there is hope.
