Bad things happen to good people. A Series of Unfortunate Events, by Lemony Snicket, is a story about the orphans that are in a bad situation. Violet, Klaus, and Sunny Baudelaire parents died in a fire while Count Olaf is trying to steal their fortune. They escaped Count Olaf and got to safety for a little. They learned that bad things happen to good people too.
In the article Let Them Eat Dog: A Modest Proposal for Tossing Fido in the Oven, author Jonathan Safran Foer takes a sardonic approach to dispute whether or not humans should eat animals. If one does not read this article in depth, they would be led to believe that this is an argument about why people do not eat dogs. A deeper look into the essay will verify that the author is saying that eating animals is cruel, therefore we should not eat any animals. The essay begins with Foer explaining that we always see chefs cook the meat of pigs, cows, and lambs regularly but we would absolutely never see a puppy being cooked.

In Pet, by Akwaeke Emezi, Emezi introduces the story of Jam and Pet progressing on a hunt to capture and kill the monster living in Redemption’s (Jam’s best friend) house. Emezi develops the idea that the truth is inevitable by using the conflicts and progression of the hunt. Emezi utilizes the progression of the hunt to develop the idea that the truth is inevitable. For example, once Jam found out that the monster is located in Redemption’s house, Jam reacts by saying, “The answer was too heavy, the possibility crushing.
Have you ever wondered what the world would be like without technology? There would be much more communication and much more of people thinking for themselves. Ray Bradbury comments on the negative aspects of society through his depiction of technology misuse and a lack of thinking. First, Bradbury illustrates how technology can be harmful if misused or overused. For example, Montag lays on a bed separate from his wife.

For my mystery book talk, I read Miss Peregrine’s Home For Peculiar Children by Ransom Riggs. This book takes place in Cairnholm which is an island off of the UK. The main character, Jacob, finds a loop that lets him go back in time to September 3, 1940. He uses the loop to go back and forth from the present to the past and back to the present.

The wealthy family had a stupid and unattractive boy named Roy, so spoiled that he got everything he asked for. Roy had everything from toys to instruments, motorcars, electric trains and so on.
Malcolm Gladwell’s “What the Dog Saw” People’s reliance on the straw man theory is prevalent in today’s world, and is an adequate yet shallow way of expressing one’s opinions and denouncing the counterarguments. The straw man theory occurs when someone ignores a person's position and instead exaggerates, misrepresents, or creates a distorted version of that position. Malcolm Gladwell, like many other authors of opinion-based pieces of literature, uses this theory as a method of persuasion. Gladwell’s “What the Dog Saw” uses this theory as a method of persuasion.
I am reading a book name is "Diary of a wimpy kid" by Jeff Kinney. I borrowed this book in library and we have 10 minutes to read book at English 9 class. The main character name is Greg, who wrote a diary which is what's happening to him, hissurrounding, and his family. He is just in a middle school, he have best friend name Rowley. I think he is rude and fascinated to his fantasy.

The book I read was The Lord of the Flies by William Golding. This book is about a group of young boys that are stranded on a deserted island. Throughout the story, the boys must figure out to how survive. The two main characters, Ralph and Jack, have different views on how life should be on the island which leads to the main conflict of the book. The two boys create different tribes that fight each other for control for the island.
The Lamb to the Slaughter is a mystery horror story by Roald Dahl. It is about a wife (Mary Maloney) murdering her drunk husband (Patrick Maloney) after he gives her short answers when she asks him questions. She hits him over the head with a leg of lamb to kill him. A theme I see is change and when something bad happens. You can drastically change in life.
The Hound of the Baskervilles is a Sherlock Holmes story. It is about how detective Sherlock Holmes and his friend Dr. Watson investigate the death of Sir Charles Baskerville. The book begins with Dr. Mortimer, a friend of Sir Charles Baskerville, who tells Holmes and Watson about the mysterious death of Sir Charles Baskerville. Dr. Mortimer thinks that Sir Charles Baskerville was frightened to death by a huge dog.
The story begins with Sherlock Holmes and Dr. Watson; in their office in London. They examine a cane left in the office by an unidentified visitor. The arrival of Mortimer who presents them with a document, dated 1742, that reveals the legend of the Baskerville curse. Hugo Baskerville was fixated with a local girl, whom he kidnaps. The girl escaped and Hugo makes a deal with the devil and sends out his hounds to search.
