The Hound of the Baskervilles is a Sherlock Holmes story. It is about how detective Sherlock Holmes and his friend Dr. Watson investigate the death of Sir Charles Baskerville. The book begins with Dr. Mortimer, a friend of Sir Charles Baskerville, who tells Holmes and Watson about the mysterious death of Sir Charles Baskerville. Dr. Mortimer thinks that Sir Charles Baskerville was frightened to death by a huge dog. Then, he reads to them an old letter, written in 1742, about the curse on the Baskerville family. The family legend is about Hugo Baskerville, a wild and wicked man, who was killed by a huge black dog. At the end of the letter, the writer warns the Baskervilles not to go out on the moor after dark. Dr. Mortimer thinks there is truth
