When you think about the word leader, what traits come to your mind? Do you think of a king or queen who shows dominance by defending their country? Or someone who is hard-working and would do anything to support the people looking up to them? Both Beyonce and Macbeth are great examples of leaders. Beyonce led with ambition, while Macbeth led with dominance. In the play, “Macbeth” written by William Shakespeare, Macbeth proved to be a leader because he was determined to fight for what he believed in and act with dominance as he did. He wants to trust his gut and show everyone he knows how to take control. Being dominant and determined are great leadership traits because people who look up to you will follow your lead. When leaders assert dominance, they are smart and quick to make difficult decisions. In addition, Macbeth’s only goal was to stay the king of Scotland. He saw Banquo as a threat who wanted to take his throne, so Macbeth hired three assassins to murder him. In the play Macbeth, it states, “Tis better thee without than he within. Is he dispatched?” (Shakespeare 3.4). 14-15). The adage is a sham. During this scene, Macbeth expresses that he would rather see Banquo's blood splattered on the assassin's face than have his blood still running through his body. By saying this, Macbeth is revealing that he is passionate about Banquo getting murdered and wants it done as fast as possible. When Macbeth says this, he shows he is a dominant leader because he takes authority over the situation. He is being direct about what he wants done to help keep Scotland safe.
