Prior to high school I was a full-time homeschool student; however, during my freshman and sophomore years, I took a few electives at the local public high school. By my junior year, this increased to six classes, including several dual credit classes. One of these was the dual credit class, College Biology, and it sparked my interest in the field of biotechnology. While learning about genetics and plant biology, the class touched on the topic of biotechnology and how it can be used to help feed people around the world. Seeing the positive impact that a career in biotechnology could have, I further researched the field of study and concluded that it was what I wanted to pursue in college and as a future career. My educational goal is to earn
