Growing up in a Hispanic family that speaks another language was very challenging for me. When I was in kindergarten, many of my teachers struggled to aid my understanding to place me in the same level as all the other students. My parents were also the first teachers in my life who helped me overcome my adversities by nourishing me with values to being passionate in giving the best of me at all times and being determined to follow my dreams. They taught me that education is the most valuable achievement no one can take away from you. With the help and support of my parents, my teachers, and my determination to become successful, I improved my English and my academics.

While in Middle School, my focus to pursue high grades drove me to join the AVID program to prepare me in my classes and my future towards college. By joining this class I learned to value the importance of organizational and effective studying skills necessary to succeed in college and beyond. With the help of my AVID teacher, I applied to STEM during 8th grade. Knowing that STEM courses were rigorous, I knew I wanted to surpass the next step and challenge my journey towards high school.
During high school, STEM had taken my brain apart to think more critically and creatively. We were taught to work together collaboratively and effectively with others. This preparation played a major role in my ability to work in group projects, summer bridge projects as well as real life community challenge projects effectively through my proper communication and strong leadership skills.
