Bonnie and Clyde were criminal masterminds in the early 1930’s whose stealing spree lasted for multiple years. Bonnie and Clyde were constantly on the run, whether it was the police or residents who would turn them in. They made sure to never stay in the same place, which meant they traveled through states, cities, and counties just to stay on the low and to avoid being captured. Their constant spree of crime leads them to their well-known title and impact on America.
Bonnie, also known as Bonnie Elizabeth Parker, was born in Rowena, Texas on October 1, 1910. Bonnie was the second child out of three. Clyde and his family lived below the average income. Clyde’s parents, Cumie Barrow and Henry Barrow, were both famers till his dad, Henry, moved to West Dallas and opened his own gas station.
Clyde had two siblings, Marie Barrow who was younger than Clyde, and his brother Buck Barrow who was older than Clyde. Clyde wasn’t the only member of the family who got involved with crime. Buck was released from Texas State prison on March 23, 1933, after he served time for botched burglary. Eventually Clyde became under the influence of his brother Buck and started following in his footsteps which led to the beginning of crime. Bonnie attended Eagle Ford School, where she earned honors and showed her interests in poetry and literature. She wanted to become an actress once she was out of school. During her schooling Bonnie worked at a restaurant as a waitress. Clyde went to school till he was 16 and he wanted to be a musician. These two met each other at a friend’s house in West Dallas in January 1930. Not to long later Clyde was imprisoned and besides the fact Bonnie and Clyde just met, Bonnie constantly visited Clyde and ended up smuggling him a gun to help him escape. Soon later, Clyde became madly in love with Bonnie, and they began to share their life of crime from there on out.
Clyde was first arrested in 1926 for automobile theft after he rented a car and refused to return it. Once he was out of jail, him and Buck were arrested for theft because they had possession of a truckload of stolen keys. Bonnie was then arrested for the first time and imprisoned for trying to steal from a hardware store and ending up getting caught, she called it a failed attempt.
Bonnie, Clyde, their friend William Jones, Buck, and Buck’s wife Blanche joined together as a gang and began their spree of robberies. The gang ended up getting themselves into a shootout in Iowa on July 29, 1933, where Buck was wounded, and Blanche was captured. Bonnie, Clyde and William were able to escape, but on November 1933 William was captured in Houston, Texas. That’s where Bonnie and Clyde began committing crimes together without their
