1845: Elias Howe invented a new type of sewing machine. It stitched on both sides of the material. 1839: An Austrian tailor Josef Madersperger designed several machines during the early 1800’s including a machine to sew caps.
The main event in the book is the Boston Massacre. The Main character Rachel, was based on an actual indentured servant who worked for the Adams. Almost everything that happened to Rachel was made up. All of her Relationships were made up, one was Jane. Jane acted as a sidekick for Rachel.
The most significant part of the book so far is when the group of friends find out that Josie is still alive. In the last book, they thought she died in a fight. The whole book is based around saving her from the concentration camp. This book reminds me of Divergent. Both books have a country at war.
I would like to begin my book report with my own personal favorite character, Emma Emmondson. Emma Emmondson was raised by a loving mother and a father that could care less. Before she was born, her father wanted a baby boy. Once Emma's father realized that Emma was a girl, he was extremely disappointed. He wanted to raise a son that could fight
I’ll start of with the supporting characters in the book, one word: overdramatic. Drama isn’t always my cup of tea and this book and its characters seem to love it, or that is what I felt sometimes (Maybe I’m the overdramatic one right now). For example; Melindas ex-bestfriends started ignoring her after she called the police during a party and that is relatively exaggerated to a certain degree, I get that someone would get mad but if you really are bestfriends then it wouldn’t be a problem to try to understand the situation and try to make up.
The book has many characters with very different personalities. The book has unexpected twists and turns throughout it. The novel involves kidnappers, a dragon and (of course) the 5 children from Miami that know nothing about what they’re getting into. This book started out as, a fairly normal story.
The author, Sarah B. Pomeroy, writes this book in a style that resembles a textbook with many examples. She structures it in a timeline chronologically telling the events and breaking up the subject matter. The book lacked personality, although she had strong opinions that came through when writing the book, the style of writing lacked personality and was hard to read at times. The subject matter I found very interesting, considering it correlated with my class currently. At times, while I read this book, I found myself angry with men because of their brutal and thoughtfulness of women.
The Heist Society series is a set of young adult novels by Ally Carter real name Sarah Leigh Fogleman, an author who has made a name for writing several bestselling adult and young adult fiction. The first novel in the Heist Society series was the aptly title Heist Society that was first published in 2010 to much critical acclaim and commercial success. It 's a jaw-dropping book that will leave you wanting more as the author Laurie writes in a crisp and clear way describing the young girl Melinda’s horrific story and how it unfolds. The author 's tone gives off the vibe of a young frighted girl which I find really enhances this sad, but exhilarating story. This story taught me to always speak up for myself and to never let anyone take advantage of me. I would recommend this novel because it is extremely detailed, painting vivid pictures in your mind that really help to magnify and
Another element in this novel is Melinda’s inner conflict, man vs. self. What Melinda has been through greatly affected her everyday life. She struggles with depression, dislikes her appearance, and feels ashamed of herself for something that isn 't her fault: “I want to confess everything, hand over the guilt and mistake and anger to someone else...even if I dump the memory, it will stay with me, staining me” (Anderson 51). Andy Evans, the senior who raped her, made her feel worthless. This situation is much like the one in the novel The Girl on the Train by Paula Hawkins.
The novel follows Stevie an eleven year old girl who lives in Southside Chicago throughout her middle and high school years. Stevie goes through the social pressure of her peers and family to tell her how to act, think, and look. Slowly throughout
The book that I am reading is The Plot to Kill Hitler, by Patricia McCormick. The plot of this book is pretty much to overthrow Hitler and the Nazis, but mostly to get into Hitler headquarters and to kill him. The main setting of this book is Berlin, Germany. The rising action of this story is Hitler bombing other countries in Europe, and Dietrich decides to take action and get a group together and agree on ways to overthrow Hitler. The climax in this book is when the attempt to assassinate Hitler is in action and Dietrich is arrested.
It is a historical fiction that the author uses historical facts and situations as background for this story about fictional characters. From reading this historical fiction, readers learn to appreciate stories from the past as most of them feel bored while reading history textbook. It is good to engage readers with the exciting world of history. They can
