My acceptance to Brigham Young University and my studies there have been a wonderful experience. Being a convert to The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints I struggled with knowledge regarding primarily religious matters. The opportunity to be a student at BYU is something I am indeed grateful for. I had only been a member of the church for two months when I began classes; because of this, my knowledge of the Gospel has increased dramatically. The fellowship I was given as a new member was exceptional and the opportunities that have come because of my studies at BYU is appreciated. For them it was always financial concerns in their families or change in priorities. They very much regretted the choice of not receiving a higher education. In light of this, they had high expectations for me to receive an education that they themselves did not have. I am quite a stubborn and competitive individual and would always strive for the ideal; I, in turn, created high expectations for myself. I truly desire the foremost education possible. I left an accredited and somewhat renowned college, after having been accepted, in order to pursue education at BYU, knowing, full-well, the consequences, especially regarding the reaction of my opposed family. This being said, I do recognize that I haven't always been as tenacious and diligent as I was before college or am now, and I find complacency and slothfulness in my work as a freshman. I very well believe, however, that my studies at Brigham Young University are essential to accomplishing the goal I set in my youth of acquiring a college education; and I do understand, now more than ever, the importance of dedication and
