I am interested in the University of Wisconsin Eau Claire for many reasons. My top four reasons are: the strong Biology and Environmental Science programs, the School of Education, specifically–secondary education, the variety of music programs on campus, and the pre-professional programs that Eau Claire offers.
Ever since I was little, I was the child knee deep in a mud puddle, or making my own bath bombs out of materials I found in the kitchen cupboards. These home experiments, summer science camps, and studying higher level science courses at Mahtomedi High School have fueled my knowledge and passion for work in Environmental Science. After working out in the field and doing research, my dream is to teach at the college level and share my passion for learning and the environment that sustains us. Eau Claire is one of few colleges that I have found that offers a degree in Biology with an emphasis specifically in Ecology and Environmental Biology. This program would give me the focus and depth in Environmental Science, and allow me to pursue licensure to teach science classes at the high school level on a wider spectrum.

Many of my favorite teachers from high school and elementary school have attended Eau Claire, and had only good things to say about the programs. This feedback reinforced for me that Eau Claire would be an amazing place for me to pursue my education. Eau Claire is also known for its wonderful music. Since I was five years old, I have used music to express myself, “blow off steam,” and as a way to connect with new people. My life would be incomplete without music.
