Who does not love a good action movie? Bruce Lee was the actor who brought martial arts into the cinema. With great dedication, Lee used his great martial arts skills and his love for the theater to become the world’s most beloved action actor. Bruce Lee was born in the United States but grew up in China. Lee Jun Fan, or Bruce Lee, was born in the hour of the Dragon and on the year of the Dragon on November 27, 1940, in San Francisco, California (Legacy). Being born in the hour and year of the Dragon is a symbol of a powerful life in Chinese astrology. Lee was the fourth child of Lee Hoi Chuen and his wife Grace Ho (“Bruce Lee Biography”). Lee had two older sisters, Phoebe and Agnes, an older brother, Peter, and a younger brother, Robert. Around the time of his birth, his parents were in America on tour with the Opera company. Bruce was beaten up by a street gang. This inspired him to learn martial arts so he could defend himself (“Bruce Lee Biography”). Now in high school, Lee honed his body through brutal self-training. In 1958, Lee started dancing and won the Hong Kong Cha Cha Championship (Legacy). When Lee turned 18, he started to look for vistas. Lee was more focused on dancing and Kung Fu than his grades. It was common for high school graduates to attend colleges overseas if their grades were high enough. Lee had not formally graduated, so he could not go overseas.
