How was Jeet Kune Do created and the life of Bruce Lee? Bruce Lee was born on November 27, 1940 in Chinatown San Francisco, California. He was the son of Cantonese opera singer and film actor Lee Hoi-chuen. Li Jun-fan was a girl’s name given to him because the family had a curse. It was also very common for Chinese parents to give the boy a girl’s name because the Chinese are very superstitions. When he was a child he was in films as a street urchin or a hoodlum. Lee’s father got him into the marital art of Wing Chun because he kept getting into street fights. Also the other kids would not practice with Lee since he was not have 100 percent Chinese. It is neither a system of fighting nor a style of fighting. It contains elements and fragments of principles for understanding, developing, and the discipline for the mind and body for martial arts. He also invented it because the style he learn which was Wing Chug took too long for him to win a in a fight. Jeet Kune Do is also a hybrid style of fighting. Jeet Kune Do means way of the intercepting fist and feet. It is more useful in street fight then a competition type fight. He also borrowed from different Kung Fu styles like Wing Chun, wrestling, and boxing. The goal of it is to have perpetual development of speed, timing, footwork, coordination and power. Also when learning this fighting technique it is good to build on self-knowledge through self-discovery. Also it is recommended to absorb idea that are useful and what ideas are not useful .Bruce Lee practiced original JKD or Jeet Kune Do. There is another style of Jeet Kune Do is the JKD concepts and it applies Bruce Lee’s original concept of Jeet Kune Do.
