When one thinks of highschool, they might think about the schoolwork, the grades, and the tests. On the other hand, they might recall the parties, the fun, and the friends. The memories of parties for some, might be positive and happy. However, as for Melinda, the main character in Laurie Halse Anderson’s book, Speak, high school parties will always be thought of as a traumatic experience. Laurie Halse Anderson uses inspiration from her childhood, the culture of the 1990’s, and her optimistic philosophies to write the young adult novel, Speak.
Saying that every decision you make has a consequence really makes
An example of this is from my own experiences. There are things I have said to other people that I know hurt them even if that wasn't my intention. No matter how great my life may be going I will still be
In the 21st century High School students go through endless nags, criticisms, and loneliness
“Mistakes are a part of being human. Appreciate your 'mistakes' for what they are: precious life lessons that can only be learned the hard way. Unless it's a fatal mistake, which, at least, others can learn from. Mistakes, obviously, show us what needs
You start preparing for the real world, and you realize that in high schools some of the teachers have no mercy no matter what the situation may be. You realize that you went from being the upperclassmen to the youngest people in the
Many high school seniors who plan on going to college or get a job may have good grades but they might not have gotten involved with any clubs or activities at school or anywhere else. If a student doesn’t get involve with others or with anything they run the risk of getting rejected because “participation in extracurricular activities will foster creative, social and physical skills that are desirable qualities to colleges and future employers.” ( Kelley). When students get involved with their school it shows others that they enjoy working with others and exploring what they might enjoy doing. It also shows how they can help out others and how they can benefit each other.
Do you remember the days of when High school Musical was the topic of every conversation? Adi Alsaid, the author of Never, Always, Sometimes has created a fictional book about two high school students who plan to never be cliché high school kids. In this journal, I will be describing how one character finds their identity, love, and truth. Everything I do and everything I see is part of my identity.
Individuals learn and grow from their mistakes to become a better person. We, as human beings, don’t always make the wisest choices in our life. Dale Turner once said, “Some of the best lessons we ever learn we learn from the past mistakes. The error of the past is the wisdom and success of the future.” If we were to not make mistakes
The pressure to be a successful, contributing member of society in order to survive has been a common vision in every generation. However, the process of survival has changed compared to new adaptations presented. It once revolved around being able to survive at an instinctual level, but as society evolved into a civilized culture the characteristics began to change. Education became the core factor to success.
“So often, in our quest to be more popular and t be part of the “in-group,” we lose sight of the things that are far more important…” This means that we focus more on trying to be apart of the “cool kids,” that we block out the things that are more important in life. The quote is succinct to me because right now, in middle school, I want to be a part of a highly honored group than I do my work. I would like to be known as the person who is always doing the right things and still have time to entertain people who compliment me. In the process, I found out that my grades were dropping, and didn’t know why.
I agree with this quote 100%. A few of those truths are making mistakes is how you learn and improve, stepping out of your comfort zone can lead to more friends and better experiences, and if you don’t try new things, you might miss out on something you
Highschool is a time where kids are supposed to figure out who they are. The thing about high school is that it is a cruel place. Some people go through some really hard times and they have to figure out how to get through it themselves. One of the worst things in high school is the technology and the media. So sometimes people find themselves after they hit rock bottom, and build themselves back up.
Being in high school is scary. Walking down the halls seeing the upperclassmen stare and whisper, and hiding from teachers because you want to avoid an hour long lecture. Especially a small school can disrupt your nerves extremely easily. Everyone knows who you are, word spreads fast as wildfire. This experience can be rough on someone and their teenage self esteem.
Making mistakes is an important part of life. We learn from our mistakes. Mistakes are the best lessons of our life. They are something that happens unintentionally and without the knowledge of a human being. The only way mistakes can be avoided is to never do anything.
