Patrick J. Buchanan argues that a nation based on democracy, diversity and equality will be unlikely to thrive. America has continued to challenge different beliefs and values, which is why he believes we are going to tear this nation to the ground. Buchanan is definitely against diversity in America almost to where he believes it’s almost a myth. “It is a revolution in thought and belief about who we are as a nation.”(Buchanan 596) He believed that it made America less of a nation and the only way to become a nation is to assimilate the same kind of values. The “unique faith, culture and civilization” they had planted in the American soil. After one culture pulls away others begin to form. Different races, cultures, traditions and languages begin to emerge. That is what Buchanan feared. And he begins to go on about how this is making America is a horrible and lesser nation making his essay that much more biased. He fails to point out the good it has done for our nation.
