“Bullying is described as a behavioral interaction rather than merely a person or a behavior. The idea of a student being both a bully and a victim offered an interesting perspective” ( Jean Par.2). Research is being done to determine what causes the bully to act the way they do. In the article, Bullying Behavior: Current Issues, Research, and Interventions, written by Kueker Jean, she explains the behavior of the bully in and out of schools and how it has spread around and is affecting students everywhere. Throughout the years bullying has grown significantly and has had and still has a big impact in teenage society.

“Direct bullying had a significant effect on depression and suicidal ideation in girls, but not in boys. Boy and girl offenders of bullying far more often reported delinquent behavior” (Van Der Wal Par.1 ). Not only does bullying go around with males, but it also happens with females and they seem to be worst because girls go more through depression and their suicidal rate is higher than males. Their behavior often leads to delinquent behavior or their ravage behavior comes from that. “Bullying others directly is a much greater risk factor for delinquent behavior than bullying others indirectly. This was true for both boys and girls. Boy and girl offenders of bullying also more often reported depressive symptoms and suicidal ideation” (Van Der Wal Par.1). “Bullying is generally viewed as a specific form of aggression. Most authors describe bullying as repeated and lasting negative actions of 1 or more children (the offender[s]) directed to a specific child (the victim). The victims are typically not able to defend themselves” (Van Der Wal Par.3). The behavior of the bully is caused by a form of aggression in which their victims can't defend themselves. Bullying can be coming from not just one offender but many, and can target one specific victim. “Direct bullying includes all sorts of physical and verbal aggression, such as kicking, hitting, threatening, name-calling, and insulting. Indirect bullying includes aspects of social isolation such as ignoring, excluding, and backbiting” (Van Der Wal Par.3 ). Basically the mindset of the bully is to always directly attack the victim with full force. As stated, bullying could be not just physical, but also verbal. There is also indirect bullying which consist of the offender just ignoring or pushing that person
