In this portfolio you will see some of the works that I have done during my first quarter at Cal Poly. Completing these assignments was no easy task. It took hard work, dedication, motivation, and perseverance to overcome some of the obstacles that I encountered. Currently, you will find my resume, group project video, and recommendation report listed on this ePortfolio. Following, I will outline some of the difficulties I had with each project, how I overcame them, and lessons learned.

This report allowed me to develop my analytics and researching skills. The overall purpose of this report was to address an issue at Cal Poly and make recommendations based on the research that one compiles. I chose to address the issue of faculty members being undercompensated for their work by determining how much they should earn to live in San Luis Obispo (SLO) as well as finding ways to fund their salary. I did this by surveying existing faculty members and gathering data on the housing market in SLO as well as data on the average personal expenditures for a family of four. To gather data on the housing market, I went through multiple data sources, such as the U.S. Census Bureau and think tanks. To calculate averages and medians, I used a statistical software package called R Studio, which helped me create bar plots and establish a linear regression plot, in order to forecast future averages. Furthermore, to determine ways the university could increase their funding, I searched for articles that did research on university endowments or ways other institutions secured external funding. Putting my research and data analysis together, I was able to write my recommendation report. Overall, this project was the most challenging because of its scope and how many skills I incorporated into the report.
