Today’s world is filled with mainstream media messages. There is an abundant amount of messages targeted towards young adults because they are so impressionable. This can be either a good thing or a bad thing. The video game “Call of Duty” has a negative influence in today youth because it glorifies violence and war. There is a massive amount of violence in the game “call of duty”. The gamer is targeting other people and shooting at them. The intent is to kill your opponent. This can lead to today’s youth to think that in order to solve a problem they need to resort to violence and killing in order to attain what is wanted. Long gone are the times when kids would go out and play with their friends now everything is at a touch of a button which makes matters worst. Kids no longer know how to communicate with each other because they communicate through a computer or television. When they are so entranced playing the video game “call of duty” they are zoombified and nothing can get through their heads because they are entranced with it. The fact that they can communicate with other gamers makes it worse because there’s nothing short of name calling that goes on that can seriously hurt some one’s feelings. This can lead to depression and the bullying can also lead to anxiety. The truth of the matter is that since there’s a barrier through communication this allows the bully to say whatever they want to say without repercussions. It presents to the player in a way that it entices them to believe that war is like a game and that as long as you keep shooting the bad guy all things will be all right. This is so far from the truth. They don’t show how if they were to go to war they would be killing children and innocent people in order to fulfill the governmental agenda. And how after you have done such horrible things as killing your life will never be the same. Or how so many soldiers come back from war with post-traumatic stress disorder. NO! they don’t tell you that when playing the game instead they tell you to kill as many people as you can and get your rank to go up. What a horrible thing for today’s youth to learn. With the issues that society is facing today it’s really sad to see how violence has escalated and it has to do with what today’s youth is being shown not only in video games but on television also. They are so impressionable that they just want to be like everyone else and its scary to imagine if someone makes killing cool how today’s youth would react to such a horrible
