Cambridge Suites Halifax is a business that operates as an hotel in the hospitality industry. The hotel operates differently from other hotels as it offers customers 200 bedrooms - all with features of a suite - for the prices of hotel rooms with discounted rates made available for long stays, free breakfast, and additional amenities.
The fact that the hotel was rated 3 ½ stars coupled with the amazing features and competitive prices and discounted rates that are offered significantly contributed to the increased patronage of the Cambridge Suites Halifax such that it had an occupancy rate of 85% in the year 1994 which is much higher than that of other hotels which were between 62% to 64% for the same period.

Hence, the unpredictable nature of the hotel business will impede the efforts of the hotel from carrying out organizational planning – which is an essential activity that serves as a compass that guides an organization through the right path that will prevent it from making costly mistakes (Ali, 2022).
Another issue facing the hotel is that continuous quality improvement initiatives are typically long-term hence their benefits will be seen after a long period of time. However, it is doubtful if the management of the hotel will support any initiative that does not include short-term tangible results.
Similarly, another key issue is whether a Continuous Quality Improvement initiative can be applied to a service-based organization like Cambridge Suites Halifax and if it does, how to manage the complexity of carrying out a quality improvement initiative that will achieve tangible short-term benefits as well as long-term …show more content…

Although both projects were successful as the set goals were achieved, those projects do not really qualify as quality management projects as they are not customer-centric.
Also, most employees that interface with customers were not involved and such employees are in the best position to engage customers and determine what their expectations are.
In addition, some of the outcomes of the debriefing of the breakthrough projects indicated that some employees are self-motivated and so there is a need for the organization to make efforts concerted efforts towards motivating their employees to higher performance.
