Introduction
Did man really derive from ape? This has been an issue that has been debated for centuries. The theory of evolution and the creation of man are different versions of how mankind emerged. The theory of evolution is mandated to be taught in schools. This topic is still a major issue today; many view the science based research as misguiding and others view the creation as the belief in supernatural forces. Depending on their belief system many people are still having problems accepting or teaching the evolution theory (Moore,2004).
Background of Contemporary Issue The theory of evolution has been a major component that is taught by scientist. This theory emphasizes the existence of mankind and how man evolved into what we are today. They use apes to depict how man started out in the form of apes and took on the human traits over time. These studies state that over a period of time man is like other species of animals that changed its genetic makeup over time. Most scientist have used similarities of both species structure. Students have opportunities to evaluate the evidence and analyze the different viewpoints. Using this approach does not compromise anyone’s beliefs, but give them opportunities to derive at their own conclusion and have a better understanding of the issues at hand (Hermann,2013). Another study found that teachers in Christian schools also varied in the way they accepted the theory of evolution. Some believed that evolution is the science of creation. Some stated that the religious sector is a supernatural force and is not separated from science. Other teachers who rejected the evolution theory still teach that it is still a theory that others have. Many teachers still found it hard to be objective when teaching on this subject
