There is a sport for everyone in this world and you might not even know it. There are so many sports out there too. For example, there is Archery, Badminton, football, soccer, boxing, cycling, running, cricket, hockey, cheer, gymnastics, and more. Although, if you think that you’re not good at sports or don’t like team-based sports. There endless amounts of other options too. Given that there is a sport for everyone, kids and students should join at least a sport.

As a matter of fact, joining a sport can help you in your sportsmanship and leadership. Colleges would want students who are well-rounded and show leadership. In college, it’s important to work well with your other classmates. A lot of colleges give out sports scholarships to the top and best athletes. It would also look good for you because it shows you could work well with others and be a good leader. In an article “Can Playing Sports Get Me Into College? the author Kate Sundquist, states that ”sports can be a valuable extracurricular. They typically represent a significant time commitment and are a good demonstration of a student athlete’s ability to manage time well. In addition, they can highlight your leadership skills if you are able to become a team captain or play another important role on your team. Finally, through extended participation in sports, you can provide solid evidence of your ability to follow through with your commitments and your dedication to pursuing your passions. Sometimes, standout athletes can even be given preferential treatment in the college application process. According to, The Australian Health Survey conducted in April of 2012 found that 25 percent of Australian children and teenagers, aged five to 17 years, are overweight or obese, indicating that we need to foster a more sports-minded culture that encourages children to be physically active. Also, when you play sports you are able to be fit and maintaining a healthy weight. You also lose the risk of getting many health problems like diabetes or heart problems.

Although, there are people who disagree and think that people don’t have to join a sport. Some people think that they can’t join sports because they won’t have time to do it or they don’t think they’re good enough for joining sports. Even if you have a busy life you can still make time for it because it teaches you time management. On the other hand, if you keep telling yourself you can’t then you won’t. There are many sports to choose from just pick one and try it.

Given these point that you can learn good sportsmanship, it’s good for your college resume, and you become healthier there are many advantages from joining sports. There are a lot of different options for sports too. So at least select one and give it a try. Go to your local park district and sign up for sports or join and try out for a
