Community Corrections involves the administration of offenders who have been sentenced by courts to serve their sentence as a substitute to imprisonment, as a condition to their parole agreement when they are released on parole, are on probation or are placed in home detention. Community Correction services often work with rehabilitation organisations to ensure offenders receive enough support to meet their goals and that they are released back into the community in a safe and efficient manner. Elective 1: Corrections(POLI1076): This elective prepares students about the punishment of offenders and enhances the ability of students and makes them more aware of the processes and fundamental elements surrounding corrections which will better prepare them for this career. Students learn about the purpose of punishment and the different types of punishments offenders can receive. This specific elective is the most vital elective that can prepare one to enter the field of community corrections due to the specific elements that are taught which have a direct link with the career in corrections.

Elective 2: Community Based Corrections (JUST2309): This elective explores the management of offenders who have been placed on non-custodial sentences or have been given parole following their release from prison. A student will undertake in learning about the origins of corrections and the political issues that affect the correctional system. Students will evaluate the effectiveness of rehabilitation programs that are provided to offenders.
