I am applying for Criminology and Criminal Justice Studies because I am fascinated by crime and the mindset of those who take the path of crime. The consequences of criminal acts are particularly interesting, as they can often have political, economic and psychological impacts on society that are often unnoticed.
I believe that crime is an incredibly important subject and more than relevant in modern society due to the increasing issues occurring. The responses and sentences of crime are continually changing based on the morals of society. One of them being Law, from this, I have found I am especially interested in criminal law. I often find myself too curious about the criminal when I should’ve been focusing on the law, this is where I first realized I'd rather progress in Criminology, not law. Law touches on the responses of the Judiciary to crime, Government and Politics touches on the responses of the Executive and Legislative to crime and History touches on the responses of society to crime.
My main interests include going out with friends, watching football, watching films and going to the gym. I feel going to the gym daily is often overlooked, it demonstrates self-determination and personal pride. I'm a very sporty person, I've been playing football since I was 9 years old up until I turned 16. I only stopped because I gained an injury, but I hope to pick up where I left off when I go to University.
In my spare time I enjoy and work for the Gloucestershire Football Association as a referee, I’m qualified to officiate all age groups (including adult games which I’ve done so in the past). This has developed my confidence as it can be extremely intimidating to a lot of people managing 22 men/women possibly 10 years older than themselves.
