ELWOOD-Elwood police early Wednesday morning cited a train engineer after the train he was driving collided with a car and injured an Elwood woman at a crossing in downtown Elwood. It was the third time in two weeks that engineers have been ticketed by Elwood police at the same crossing. Lucille McKinney, 42, was driving her Buick across a double set of railroad tracks on State Road 28 near Main Street when it was struck by a slow-moving Central Line engine. McKinney said she never saw the train coming. The engine ' headlights were off, the railroad gates didn 't come down, the warning lights didn 't flash, and there was no flagman to warn cars that a train as coming, police said.
The History of Clark County Fire Department Clark County Fire Department’s beginnings date back to November 23, 1953 when it was officially organized. It was created out of the necessity of the safety of a rapid growing population. The population increase was triggered by the building of The Flamingo, which sent Las Vegas into a building boom. Once it became obvious that a fire department was needed, the community quickly came together, and men began working as firefighters before the first station was even built.

As the Greenfield Police Department chief, what changes would you implement to improve morale and increase motivation among officers not pursuing supervisory positions? I would go back to monthly awards but tailor them around community policing. If officers are not interested in pursuing supervisory positions they need additional motivation to showing up for work and giving it 100%. Is resistance to change a sign of low morale and lack of motivation?
Golder Ranch Fire District (GRFD) prides itself on providing the highest level of service to the members of the district. GRFD has created a set of standards that reflect the high level of services provided. These standards can be found in both the Mission and Values Statement. Both statements represent the goals that GRFD strives to achieve and maintain. If an organization wants to be successful they must have a set of goals and values.
There is no such thing as a Utopian society. In Ray Bradbury’s “Fahrenheit 451” the main character, Guy Montag lives in a society where books are banned, Creative thinking is prohibited, and firemen start fires. The government who run this city have brainwashed every citizen to think that they live in a perfect civilization, when in reality they are living as mindless beings. Deep down, the people of the city know there is something wrong with their lifestyle, but their minds are so influenced by the government that they do not allow themselves to feel those negative feelings. The society portrayed in this novel is almost the complete opposite from modern society today.
Last, but not least, is the “would-be-hero” fire setter. These are the volunteer firefighters or people in public service who want to be heroes in their communities. They set fires, then come to the rescue of those in trouble because of the fires they set, saving people makes the volunteer firefighter a hero in everyone’s eyes. These fires will continue to happen until they are caught, because the hero urge inside them, keeps them wanting more and more attention. “These people have a superman fantasy life, with themselves as the heroic rescuer.
What is inspiration? That question went through my mind when my teacher told me about this project. It really got me thinking about who has inspired me that 's something you just don 't think of, but then I got to thinking and I thought my grandpa. Jud Reincke my grandpa was born and raised in Marshall where he stayed his whole life, married about 60 years, had three kids Mark,Mike, and my dad Norm Reincke. Jud later had four grand kids Matt ,Laurie ,my brother Trace, and me.
Introduction The Southport Volunteer Fire Department is a registered 501(c)(3) non-profit organization serving the residents of both the Village of Southport and the Town of Fairfield, Connecticut. The current mission statement of the Department is “through leadership, dedication, integrity, professionalism, and education the Southport Fire Department strives to protect the lives and property of the residents and visitors of Southport, Fairfield and wherever else called upon to serve during times of need.” Sadly, over the last several years, the Department has suffered a precipitous decline in membership, due to the aging (and retirement) of current members and a lack of significant number of new recruits, all of which makes it difficult for
What they do Firefighters typically respond to emergency services such as extinguishing fires and rescuing civilians from a burning building. When they are not on a job, firemen will be on call performing maintenance on their trucks, emergency service vehicles, and equipment. As well as performing maintenance while on call members will perform drills, eat, and sleep while on their 24 hour shifts. When firefighters pull up on the scene of a fire, they are responsible for connecting hose to a fire hydrant, controlling water flow from the hose, using a variety of tools to search through debris, rescue civilians and extinguish fires. Firemen also go out of their way to provide the message of fire safety.
Intro: Imagine: you’re in some desert overseas; bullets are flying all over the place and you and your squad are pinned down. A call is made for close air support, you don’t know what’s coming but it just needs to get here fast. Now what would you want to have your back in a firefight? A stealth fighter or a jet nicked named the warthog? There has been lots of talk about the future of A-10 thunderbolts II and F-35 lightings II replacing them, a jet that can do it all or a jet born for a more specific yet critical mission.
History is filled with the names of famous American firefighters, Benjamin Franklin, established the first fire department. Allan Brunacini, Fire Chief of the Phoenix Fire Department, and first active fire service member to hold the position of chairman of the Board of Directors of the National Fire Protection Association (NFPA). Red Adair, international oil well firefighter known for fighting over 1000 oil well fires. These names, though impressive fall short of others in fire protection that should be mentioned. Molly Williams, part of the Oceanus Engine Company firehouse in 1815 was the first African American woman firefighter.
There is a building that is engulfed in flames. Everyone seems to be out of the building. The firefighters are working as hard as the can to contain the fire and put it out, but it doesn’t seem to be working. The fire just comes back stronger every time with a louder roar and vengeance then before. “Hey, Is something up there?!”
During my observation time at the fire station, the crew and I got to interact with one another about various subjects, whether it was specifically about their job or something personal about them. I introduced myself individually to each of the fire men and told them something interesting about myself. When I told them about my experiences with boxing, each of them were interested and wanted me to show them stuff (Train). I didn’t do this until later on in the evening, when the men had an hour to themselves to rest, workout, sleep etc. During that period of time, I showed them a variety of skills in boxing and they even tried them too.
