September 11th, 2001 is not just a normal date to America. It’s the day that all Americans citizens will never forget. This day is written down in the Americans history books. It’s a historical date. On this day, the tallest twin towers in New York were collapsed by a terrorist attack. A total of 2,977 victims were killed both inside the twin towers as well as those on the planes that crashed into the towers. After this event, negative stereotypes about Arabs and Muslims began to increase all over the world, and especially in the country of the twin towers, the United States of America. Few weeks after the tragic event, the U.S government set policies and rules that targeted all Muslims across the world, middle eastern, and even the Muslims immigrants in America (Bakalian, 2009). They were all generalized as terrorists and that they blamed them right away on what happened in New York. Innocent American Muslims were generalized as being terrorist, and they have nothing to do with it. Amir Hussian (2011) said that many Muslims in America felt like they were being targeted as terrorist by their own country. Islamphobia started to spread all over the world and especially in America. Islamphobia has been shown across the world, and a survey in the United Kingdom proved that the discrimination has indeed increased against Muslims as being terrorist in the recent years after 9/11 (Sheridan, 2006). Also, another proof that shows that islamphobia is in fact happening, and increased after 9/11 attacks is that they tested the attitudes toward Muslim American verses the attitudes of unspecified background and the results showed that three out of the 10 situations were different attitudes towards the Muslim American (Sheridan, 2006). It shows that Americans think of Muslims as all bad people and terrorists, and don’t know that there are bad people in every culture out
