In September 11 2001, the world was alerted with the news of attacks carried by Islamic terrorist group called Al-Qaeda. Four airliners were hijacked and two of it hit World Trade Centre in New York. Over 3000 civilians were killed in the attack including the hijackers.

Muslims in America had already faced the tensions and discriminations from other religions even before the attack. There were some attacks occurred before September 11. For example, in year 1972, a terrorist raid at the Munich Olympics and in 1998 bombings of the U.S. embassies in Kenya and Tanzania. Discriminations towards Muslims in America were already existed before the attacks as media always showed Islam as and extreme and violent religion. Close and tight security in universities or colleges. Muslim students activities were monitored closely.
Muslims become the victims of Islamophobia.

From the examples mentioned above, these are the concerns raised by muslims in the country and asked how can they get the public to understand about Islam, as many have thought. Many activities and ways were brought to the centre around the country to raise awareness among the Americans and the religion is not about killing and fighting. Muslim community has always been thinking of new ways and ideas to expand the knowledge of the religion in the country.

Many organisations and public interest groups were later formed and those already existed became strong and vocal. They focused their roles on promoting the awareness towards non-Muslims in America such as Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) and the Islamic Society of North America (ISNA).

Muslims are always being labeled as terrorists and extremists. That is always mentioned and perpetuated in media all the time. Muslims around the world and in America especially feel the tension and stress when other religions keep giving bad and negative remarks about
