The main topic of this essay is going to be the cause(s) of WWI. There will be short discussions and, or, statements about the “Opening moves” of WWI, the Naval War, the Air-Force War, and the results of the “Great War”. The assassination of the Austrian Archduke, Franz Ferdinand, unfortunately began a long chain reaction of events that would lead up to the exhausting war known as, World War I, or “The Great War”. If the Archduke had not been assassinated, there might not have been a war. The first World War was a direct result of nationalism1, militarism2, and the alliances3. During this, Germany introduced unrestricted submarine warfare6 and made sure to enforce it. Resulting this, four American merchant ships were sunk. This was the final straw causing the U.S. to enter the war. Germany would soon wish they had not introduced this new strategy. The Air-Force War also introduced new weapons. One of these being the airplane, that was less than eleven years old. The airplane soon adapted many new uses such as Reconnaissance Planes7, Fighter Planes8, Bombers9, Zeppelins10. Overall, these planes were used but not a detrimental advantage in the war because of the lack of technological errors. Planes were much more useful in World War II. The United States entered the war because a German U-boat sank the U.S. cargo ship Housatonic. Because of this the United States broke off their diplomatic relations with Germany. Later, Britain forces intercepted the “Zimmerman Telegram11”. This telegram was on the front of every newspaper in the U.S. When the American people saw this, their opinions shifted from anything anti-war and they were suddenly backing the war all at
