Atticus is a responsible character in to reasons. The first reason is a father figure for his kids. He’s protective by telling the kids why its a sin ti shoot a mockingbird. He gets scared when Scout and Jem show up at the lynch mob. He doesn’t want the kids to be in the courtroom when the trial happens.
Atticus from the book To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee is a character with a large list of traits. One that seems to stand out is his willingness to preserve life whenever he can. This is seen in chapter 10 when he shoots the sick dog. It is later emphasized that the dog is dangerous on pg. 128, “…he’s just as dangerous dead as alive”.

In, the novel, To Kill a Mockingbird by Harper Lee, there were many themes that were supported in the novel. Harper Lee gave many general themes that were shown throughout the chapters of the novel. Atticus, who is one of the main characters of the novel input the aspect of life lessons to his children. One of the common themes that are shown throughout the novel is injustices. Atticus would greatly agree that the world that he lived in was unfair, sometimes.
In the novel To Kill a Mockingbird, bluejays, mockingbirds, and finches are all mentioned. As Atticus says, each bird has its own unique purpose or song, just like people do. As the title suggests, mockingbirds are innocent creatures and it is a sin to kill them for a personal gain. People can be compared to mockingbird because people can be killed spiritually, physically or emotionally. Three people from the book that come to my mind as mockingbirds that sing their own unique song are Atticus Finch, Boo Radley, and Scout Finch.
“Mockingbirds don’t do one thing but make music for us to enjoy . . . but sing their hearts out for us. That’s why it’s a sin to kill a mockingbird. ”(Lee, 119) Miss Maudie says this towards the middle of the book, when she and Atticus are talking to Scout about killing mockingbirds. and she says that the teacher said she could not read or practice her writing anymore if she wanted to come back to school. Being the clever person Atticus is, he comes up with a compromise, in which he can read to Scout, if she does not tell anyone and continues to attend school. He tells her, “If you’ll concede the necessity of going to school, we’ll go on reading every night just as we always have. Is it a bargain?” (Lee 35).
To Kill A Mockingbird, written by Harper Lee, had a lot of character development. But what is the best? As displayed in the book, Atticus carries a lot of strengths and weaknesses but, throughout the story, his “true colors” shine through, and the readers discover the real him. One display of development Atticus has is when he leaves home to go see Tom Robinson (his client) at the jail, but his kids, Scout and Jem and their friend Dill, follow him to make sure he is okay and know where he’s going. Once there, Scout sees a small mob of men approaching Atticus stating how Atticus should “Get aside from the door, Mr. Finch.”
Atticus from Harper Lee’s To Kill a Mockingbird is a good dad, and compassionate. Atticus is compassionate because he cares about everyone. Scout asks Atticus is if he really is a negro lover and Atticus tells Scout he does his best to love everybody. “I do my best to love everybody…it’s never an insult to be called what somebody thinks is a bad name.”
In the beginning of the novel Scout struggled with her teacher, Miss Caroline. Scout would get in trouble for knowing how to read, so her teacher forbid her to read at home with her father. Scout was devestated with the fact of getting and trouble, but not being able to read with Atticus anymore made it worse. Atticus made a deal with her that if she promised not to tell her

To Begin with, Atticus in To Kill a Mockingbird shows his care and compassion for Tom as he defends Tom against an entire jury who believes he is guilty because of the color of his skin. Atticus while talking to his children makes the statement, “Simply because we were licked a hundred years before we started is no reason for us not to try to win” (Mockingbird 76). Atticus is saying that just because many people have been made to believe that blacks do not have the same legal rights as whites do that they cannot win the case, yet Atticus states that he will try his hardest to try and win the case. In addition, he believes everyone’s mind is set on Tom being guilty because of the color of his skin, but he will try everything to change the minds
