The corvette, many americans dream of the perfect car. And just like any other great product it needs great advertisements to be recognized. However these advertisements tell us more than just what the text says about people and the car. These advertisements show that Chevrolet is overall a strong company in terms of advertising. First we must decide what is a successful ad? For the purpose of this essay I will assume that the ad must reflect the values of the culture at the time, the ad must also mean something beyond what it says at face value. Finally it will be assumed that better ads would cause an increase of production due to increased sales. The first ad was from between 1958 and 1962 when the corvette c1 was in production. This ad focused on a couple who appear to be reading a brochure which we can infer is from the Racquet Club they are standing in front of. This was ad was a huge step for Chevrolet as it was the first ad to not contain people. It also showed the complete opposite of the last ad putting the car in the middle of a busy city. This ad was focused on the american dream and telling people that the corvette could help them achieve their dream.
