Child-Adult Relationship: What a Kid Needs Most.

When asked about what bonds are between children and adults, the very first thing anyone would think about is their family. To most people, their family is more important than anyone else, and the bonds between them aren’t easily separated. So how exactly does a bond between family members deteriorate? As children need reliable adults that are there for them, a true bond ignores pointless rules set by society, one being social status. Juliet and the Nurse’s relationship is a good example of this as Nurse stands up for Juliet even if she is a lowly servant: “You are to blame, my lord, to rate her so” (3.5.191). As a servant, the Nurse takes a risk standing up for Juliet as her role is to take the side of her master. Unlike Capulet, the Nurse cares about Juliet, and the proof of their bond shows with the Nurse’s behavior, treating Juliet like she’s her own daughter. Similarly, Romeo and the Friar’s relationship tells the same. When Romeo is faced with a problem, we see him seeking out the friar instead of his own parents. When Romeo addresses the friar he states, “Good morrow, father” (1.3.32). And when the friar addresses Romeo he states, “That’s my good son” (1.3.50). Throughout the book, many people address the friar for their needs, but Romeo is the only one who calls him father. As Romeo’s parents are too focused on their feud with the Capulets, he is left to himself and the Friar is there to be his parent figure. As we see the destruction of Romeo and Juliet’s relationship with their parents, we can also see the rise to new ones, this time with reliable adults. As both Romeo and Juliet go through similar problems, they each have someone there for them
