In order for a childcare center to operate, there are principles that should be in place. The following Core Values are important for things to be successful. The first Core Value is appreciating childhood as a unique and valuable stage of the human cycle. We need to realize that children learn at an early age and what they experience will make a lasting impression. Children need positive, loving relationships so they can feel safe. Trust is an important factor in life and if they don’t learn that early, it can affect how they develop. The second Core Value is Basing our work of knowledge of how children develop and learn. Family bonding is important. We encourage volunteering in the classroom and we also send home activities that that involves both parents. In the beginning of the year, we ask for each family to make a family board. This is displayed so the children feel comfortable. We also take pictures of the families and this vital in the younger rooms because it’s usually their first time in school. We also allow the parents to come in at any time. We make them feel as welcome as possible. The fourth Core Value is Recognize that children are best understood and supported in the context of family, culture, community, and society. We ask our parents to share their cultures within our school. We ask parents to sign our weekly lesson plans so they can contribute and the children can learn new things. It is always important to have a positive working environment. Each month we recognize the teachers who celebrate their birthdays. It’s the little things you do that can make a difference. In the classrooms, we talk to the children in a positive way and we also encourage them to do that when interacting with friends.
