1. One strategy Winco uses to give the illusion the vegetables are fresh is adding a small sprinkler system to the display. Occasionally it turns on making the vegetables wet giving them the fresh picked look.

E. Marketing Strategies – Point of Sale Display
1. The display I first noticed was for Chips Ahoy brand cookies. It was stacked tall with a large sign that read “Extra Savings” in bright yellow.
2. The store brought my attention to the display by using bright colors and words that I like to see. The sign compared Winco’s price to two other competing stores prices. It showed that Winco had the lowest price of these three stores.

Cereals are placed the way they are so they grab attention, especially those of children. The bright colors and cartoon characters help sell the boxes faster than the healthier options on the top shelf.

1. The product I chose was: Oscar Meyer Lean Beef Franks
2. The total calories per link was 60 calories.
3. The fat calories per link was 30 calories.
4. The percentage of fat calories was 50%.
5. I was actually surprised to see how low in calories and fat percentage this was. Hot dogs are known for being very high in fat and this was a fairly good option for someone wanting a hot dog.
6. Knowing the basic nutrition facts of hot dog I knew it wouldn’t be very high in protein. Lean meats seem to be the best option for a good protein source so by having the label “lean” on the package some people may think this would be a good source to get protein. One link only had 6 grams of protein which is low for meat.

1. The product I chose was Chicken Breast Nuggets – 100% All Natural
2. The serving size of this product is five pieces. I think it is a pretty reasonable serving size if served with other things and not eaten as the whole meal.
3. The total calories per serving is 220 calories.
4. This product had 12 grams of protein per serving.
